CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAM IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN (RSE)
Our suppliers play an important role in representing our products, which is why Klabin prioritizes ethical and transparent relationship across its chain. To mitigate the risks in this link, in 2019 Klabin launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (RSE) program that assesses critical partners based on social and environmental criteria. The goal of the program is to promote a responsible supply chain through assessments, actions for improvement and sustainable practices.
The Program has a structured process defined according to social and environmental pillars, and aims to generate synergies and share Klabin’s objective with its suppliers. It is one of Klabin’s key links for managing relations with our partners and the main tool to mitigate the risks pertaining to the value chain, stimulating increasingly integral businesses.
Since its launch, we have already assessed more than 300 suppliers.
ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY
Since 2019, we have adopted the EcoVadis methodology to assess the sustainability of our suppliers. We analyze issues grouped into four major topics: environment, work and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Participation in the EcoVadis assessment is established in our supply agreements, thus requiring compliance with sustainability standards. The methodology also considers our social and environmental responsibility matrix, covering environmental, diversity, ethics, human rights, health and safety issues.
EcoVadis is one of the world’s most reliable providers of business sustainability ratings and is dedicated to improving the performance of supply chains. Klabin was one of the first companies in Brazil to work with EcoVadis in order to help its partners adopt sustainability best practices.
The questionnaire is customized and the assessment model is defined in accordance with the sector, company size and country where the supplier operates.
Four sustainability pillar criteria that are aligned with global standards are assessed, as follows:
Environment
Conscious consumption and GHG; Water; Biodiversity; Local and accidental pollution; Materials, chemicals and wastes; Use of product; End of life of product; Consumer health and safety; Environmental promotion and services
Labor practices and human rights
Worker health and safety; Work conditions; Social Dialogue; Career management and training; Child labor, forced labor and human trafficking; Diversity, discrimination and harassment; Third-party human rights
Ethics
Corruption; Antitrust practices; Responsible information management
Sustainable procurement
Environmental and social practices of suppliers
Os fornecedores convidados a participar da nossa avaliação, são os considerados críticos quando fornecem insumos, materiais e serviços que têm um impacto significativo na vantagem competitiva, sucesso de mercado ou sobrevivência da empresa.
SUPPLIER AWARDS
Klabin Supplier Awards recognize the company’s partners and encourage the continuous improvement of all the links involved in its production process. More than promoting best practices and analyzing the services offered during the evaluation period, the awards strengthen already established partnerships and underscore the need for aligning the whole chain with the same values of ethics, transparency and respect to the environment advocated by the Company. The first edition was held in 2022 and 19 awards in all were granted.
