Our Business Units

Transforming the future is our raw material. That is why, for more than 125 years, we have built a story based on sustainability, developing customized and innovative solutions, and without neglecting environmental preservation and biodiversity.

We are the largest paper producer and exporter in Brazil, leader in the production of paper and board and the only company in the country to simultaneously supply hardwood pulp (eucalyptus), softwood (pine) and fluff pulp to the market.

Klabin is present from north to south of Brazil: we have 23 units spread across national territory and one unit in Argentina. Check out the map.

MONTE ALEGRE UNIT (STATE OF PARANÁ)

In 1934, Klabin acquired the Monte Alegre Farm to build the country's first integrated paper mill. This led to the establishment of Indústrias Klabin do Paraná – IKP, which, in 1942, became Indústrias Klabin do Paraná de Celulose – IKPC. In 1946, the factory was inaugurated, initially producing mechanical pulp and newsprint, later expanding to pulp and Kraft paper. In 2008, the MA-1100 Expansion Project was launched, along with the construction of Paper Machine No. 9, positioning the Monte Alegre Unit among the 10 largest paper mills in the world at the time and making Klabin one of the six largest global producers of virgin fiber board (non-recycled fibers). Today, the factory produces cartonboard and Kraftliner.

To serve the packaging market in Brazil's North and Northeast regions, Papelão Ondulado do Nordeste S.A. (PONSA) was established in September 1967. The project aimed to produce corrugated cardboard and paper using its own scrap materials and sugarcane bagasse, a raw material abundantly available in the region due to large-scale sugarcane plantations operated by local mills. The factory was inaugurated on March 20, 1973, and in 2013, it underwent an expansion, increasing its production capacity with the installation of new machines, corrugators, and printers.
