São Paulo, March 21, 2019 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, was one of the companies honored at the Conscious Capitalism Latin-American Conference, held yesterday (20) at SENAC University Center in São Paulo city. In this unprecedented survey in Brazil, which was conducted by the University of São Paulo (USP) in partnership with the Conscious Capitalism Institute and the consulting firm Tristin, Klabin was featured among the 22 Brazilian companies considered more “humanized” for their responsible practices. More than 1,000 companies were evaluated based on the opinions of their employees, clients, suppliers, investors and partner organizations.
The survey compiled case studies of successful Brazilian companies that have managed to keep their purpose and passion aligned with market and business targets. Respondents cited values such as ethics, sustainability, environmental awareness, innovation, safety and social responsibility as distinctive characteristics of Klabin. The study also analyzed the Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption Code and Sustainability Policy of the company and mapped the good practices and initiatives it has implemented nationally for developing people and communities in the regions where it operates.
Since 2016, for example, Klabin has adhered voluntarily to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a United Nations initiative that brings together governments, civil society and private sector in a global agenda with 17 goals and 169 targets to benefit people and the planet and to further peace and prosperity. The SDGs establish global priorities and aspirations for 2030 and represent an opportunity to eliminate extreme poverty and put the world on a sustainable path.
“Klabin’s organizational culture reinforces and catalyzes our capacity to adapt to change, with agility, innovation and excellence. We’re very proud to be featured on this list, since it recognizes the positive initiatives practiced by our teams that give purpose to our day-to-day activities. We call it the Klabin Attitude,” said Klabin’s People & Corporate Services manager, Sérgio Piza.
