Klabin launches fully biodegradable fruit and vegetable tray

São Paulo, September 19, 2019 – Aligned with the trend in consumer behavior leaning towards a more sustainable future, Klabin continues to invest in new markets for renewable products. Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and the country’s leading producer of corrugated board packaging and industrial bags, the company has just launched a fully biodegradable tray for transporting, storing and showcasing fruits and vegetables at store shelves.

The solution is developed using corrugated board and made from clean fibers, i.e. those used for the first time and free of any contamination. This combination ensures that food products are stored, transported and showcased in utmost safety. Moreover, its design helps to reduce food waste, since it has holes that provide optimum ventilation for conserving the produce and preserving its integrity.

“Corrugated board trays come with the superior quality offered by Klabin to agribusiness and underscore the company’s proposition to offer innovative products that are aligned with the evolution of businesses and the global awareness about more sustainable products,” said Gabriella Michelucci, director of corrugated boards at Klabin.

The new product, just like the other products developed by the company, is produced from wood sourced from planted forests certified by the company, that is, from sustainable and renewable sources, and is fully recyclable after use. The packaging is certified by international agencies, which guarantees that food is packed and transported safely and free of contamination.
