Klabin’s Decolar Project starts its 2016 activities

Telêmaco Borba, May 20, 2016 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest paper producer and exporter and the leading manufacturer of paper and board for packaging, corrugated board packaging and industrial bags, has started this year’s Decolar Project activities in Telêmaco Borba, Paraná. Aiming to promote a culture of safety in the districts surrounding the Monte Alegre Airport, the Project involves approximately 850 second to fifth-year students from local public schools.

During in-class discussions, Klabin employees, with the support of volunteers from the Military, guide children on how to behave around airports in order to ensure their safety, and the preservation and respect to the local assets. Students are then assigned the mission of disseminating the information among their families, neighbors and the community.

The first class of the Decolar project is scheduled to graduate in October, which will conclude the phase of implementation of the Project and recognize fifth-year students as the newest 0community oversight agents.

The initiative is supported by the Local Education Department of Telêmaco Borba and the Military. Since its creation, the Decolar Project has engaged nearly 3,000 students and impacted over 26,000 people.
