General Shutdown at the Monte Alegre Plant ends next week

Klabin’s Monte Alegre Plant on the coming 21st and 22nd will begin start-up procedures of the mill’s plants which were down for maintenance during the General Shutdown. As a result, the community of Telemaco Borba, principally in the areas close to the mill and the Tibagi River, may notice variations in odors and noises coming from the Plant. Klabin wishes to point out that these alterations present no risk to people or the environment and that all the norms of safety and environment are being observed during both the maintenance procedures and also the start-up of machines.

The General Shutdown, which will terminate on the 23rd of May, is an annual procedure during which paper production is interrupted to carry out maintenance, in order to ensure the quality and safety of the production process.

For 11 days, various activities were performed, such as inspections in boilers, digestors, power generation and distribution systems and control systems of the production process.

In the case of doubts concerning the environment, the community can get in touch with the company via the e-mail faleklabinpr@klabin.com.br or the telephone 0800 728 0607.
