Paraná, December 14, 2015 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest paper producer and exporter, held Environmental Exhibits through the Caiubi Program in city and state schools in the cities of Imbaú, Ortigueira and Telêmaco Borba, in Paraná. The Program, created to spread concepts of ecological awareness among students and teachers, focused this year on the dangers of dengue fever, chikungunya fever, the zika virus and prevention methods.

Exhibits, conducted in partnership with the city halls of participating cities through their respective Municipal Departments of Education, involved more than 9,000 students. Events were open to the community and free of charge and professors and students presented activities developed during the year. The Program included training for teachers at the beginning of the year in a course taught by faculty members José Lopes from the State University of Londrina and Lindalva Pereira from the State University of Northern Paraná.

Caiubi has been held in Telêmaco Borba since 2001. In Imbaú and Ortigueira, now directly influenced by Klabin with the construction of the Ortigueira Unit, received their first editions of the program this year. Due to the success and adherence to the program, cities have already stated their intention of holding the program once again in 2016.
