Klabin sponsors Field Day in Paraná

Paraná, September 3, 2015 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, was one of the sponsors of Field Day, an event organized by Agência da Madeira and the City Council of Reserva, Paraná, with support from Emprapa Florestas. Hosted at Tangará Farm on Tuesday (August 25), the event brought together approximately 150 people involved in the wood production chain, including entrepreneurs and rural producers, to learn about innovations in forestry and the outlook for the regional market.

The event was inaugurated by the Mayor of Reserva, Luiz Carlos Vosniak, and director of Agência da Madeira, Chico Moreira. Klabin used the opportunity to explain its support for the development of rural producers and the outlook for wood consumption in the region after the operational startup of its new pulp mill, currently under construction in Ortigueira. The importance of forestry certification and the agrosilvopastoral system, which combines cattle raising, agriculture and forests, were other topics presented by the Klabin at the event.

In the field, professionals from the Tangará Farm explained the agrosilvopastoral system implemented in the area, which is home to sheep, planted forests and wheat. The Farm, which covers over 200 hectares, is one of the units supported by Klabin and is a member of the Group of Forest Producers from the Médio Rio Tibagi Region (GPMT) that received FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certification at the end of last year. The certification recognizes responsible forest stewardship and enables the sale of high value-added wood, which brings benefits to the entire production chain. The companies TMO and Palfinger held demonstrations of their equipment used in harvesting and loading wood.
