Klabin and Environmental Police will train the 28th batch of Environmental Protectors

Lages, December 15, 2015 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest paper producer and exporter, will, in partnership with the Environmental Police of Santa Catarina state, hold on December 16th the passing out ceremony of the 28th Batch of Environmental Protectors. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. [AB1] on December 16th at the Lages City Council.

To become Environmental Protectors, the students underwent practical training on taking care of nature, in addition to 180 hours of classes on preservation of the environment, air, water and soil pollution, and recycling, held by the Environmental Police and by experts invited for the program. By the end of the program, the students had participated in two days of camping activities, which included day and evening classes to stimulate the senses – hearing, sight, smell and touch –, on team spirit and leadership, as well as guidelines on first aid and fire prevention from the Fire Department.

The Environmental Protectors Program is an initiative of the Environmental Police in partnership with the Municipal and State Education Departments and Klabin. The Program has already trained more than 470 students living in the mountainous region of Santa Catarina. Klabin has been a partner of the project since 2005. A total of 288 students have been trained with support from the company, which is collaborating for the 11th consecutive time this year.
