Klabin releases its 2026 Public Summary and reinforces its commitment to conserving water resources in Santa Catarina

Klabin’s forest area in Santa Catarina
Santa Catarina, June 17, 2026 – More than 5,000 kilometers of rivers are protected by the forest management strategies implemented by Klabin in Santa Catarina. In practical terms, that length would allow a straight-line journey across Brazil, from Chuí, in Rio Grande do Sul, to Oiapoque, in Amapá—respectively the southernmost and northernmost municipalities in the country. The Company also continues to protect more than 9,000 springs distributed across the 42 municipalities where it owns forest properties in Santa Catarina, helping support the region’s water supply. The data are available in the 2026 Public Summary, recently released by the company.
The results reflect Klabin’s mosaic-based forest management model, which currently manages 157,000 hectares of forest in Santa Catarina and allocates 48% of this area to the conservation of native habitats—more than double the legal requirement—helping safeguard Permanent Preservation Areas and riparian forests that are vital to rivers and springs. “The data demonstrate Klabin’s commitment to responsible water management, ensuring water supply for the population without compromising the balance required by the forest ecosystem, while combining productivity and operational efficiency with conservation and responsible management,” says Júlio Nogueira, Sustainability and Environment Manager at Klabin.
Operating in Santa Catarina for more than 60 years, Klabin has maintained in the state its State Natural Heritage Private Reserve (RPPNE) called the Serra da Farofa Complex. Covering nearly 5,000 hectares, it is the largest reserve maintained by the Company in Brazil and the third largest in the South of the country, providing habitat for endemic plant and animal species that are threatened with extinction. In addition, Fazenda das Nascentes—an area within the RPPNE encompassing more than 1,500 hectares in a highly preserved state—protects the springs of the Canoas and Caveiras rivers, which help form the largest watershed in Santa Catarina and are also essential to supplying drinking water to Lages, the largest municipality in the state’s mountain region.
To ensure continuous improvement in water quality and availability, Klabin conducts monitoring and advanced scientific studies in experimental micro-watersheds at Fazenda Cavalete, in Santa Catarina, to better understand the region’s water cycle. This protection of springs and waterways directly affects local biodiversity, driving the documentation of native life in the areas managed by the Company. While the 2025 report recorded the presence of 897 native flora species and 563 fauna species in Klabin’s managed areas, the new 2026 survey indicates an increase: 945 native flora species and 576 animal species identified (totaling 1,521 species).
World-class recognition
Klabin’s rigorous forest management earned the Company a historic achievement in 2025: a “Triple A” rating from CDP. This is the highest score awarded to companies and organizations worldwide for environmental leadership and transparency. To achieve it, the Company must receive an “A” in three key categories: Climate Change, Water Security, and Forest Protection. As a result, Klabin joined the select group of 23 companies worldwide that have achieved excellence in environmental management.
