Initiative in partnership with Children and Adolescent Fund (FIA) benefits 40 cities in four states of Brazil

São Paulo, January 14, 2022 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer of packaging paper and paper packaging, has donated R$1.5 million to projects that work to foster the development of children and teens in 40 cities in which it has operations in the states of Goiás, Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. In Goiás, the city of Rio Verde was the target. The initiative, which is one of the Company’s many Social Responsibility and ESG efforts, supports the development of local communities and is part of the Klabin Sustainable Development Goals (KODs) based on the UN 2030 Agenda.

After conducting a detailed analysis of the projects, the donations were made directly to the Children and Adolescent Funds (FIA) of each city to ensure greater transparency. Now, each chapter of the organization can use the funds as they best see fit, based on the specific needs of each location. To benefit as many cities as possible, the Company distributed the donations equally so that each city would be able to actually implement important projects in benefit of children and teens. 

“Klabin will monitor each action to ensure that the organizations are effectively achieving what they proposed,” said Uilson Paiva, Klabin’s Community Relations manager.

Local development: Donations under tax incentives are part of Klabin’s commitment to local development, which is the essence of its Sustainability and ESG Policy. “We work to leverage the positive impacts of our activities through social programs and actions focusing on Education and Regional Development and based on engagement and frequent, proactive and transparent contact with communities, with dedicated management support by the Social Responsibility and Community Relations teams,” said Paiva.

Klabin develops and supports social projects that cause positive impacts on the social, economic and environmental dynamics of communities, while respecting local quality of life, lifestyle and social relations.
