Klabin tests new technology in Reserva (Paraná) to reduce dust on rural highways
Paraná, May 29, 2020 – In June, Klabin will start deploying a new technology to reduce dust caused by truck traffic on unpaved roads. The double surface treatment (TSD) technology will be tested on the rural roads of three communities in the city of Reserva (Paraná), which are the routes for transporting the company’s wood: Leonardos, Espigão Preto and Rio Novo.
TSD is an alternative that makes road surface look like asphalt, but is faster to deploy, with durability of one year, though requiring more frequent maintenance than asphalt. Its double coating layer is composed of an asphalt alloy and mineral aggregate, compacted at the end of the process.
“We hope this solution increases the comfort of people in the surrounding communities, who will be less exposed to dust, and also increases the safety of drivers who use rural roads,” said Uilson Paiva, Social Responsibility and Community Relations Manager at Klabin.
The Reserva Municipal Government has already authorized the start of works as of June 1, when the material will start to be applied. The process should take about 30 days. To ensure the safety of people accessing these roads, the company will reinforce the necessary signage to carry out the works and keep the roads operational.
The company reiterates that it is available for queries, comments and suggestions from the community on 0800 728 0607 or via e-mail faleklabinpr@klabin.com.br.
