Klabin starts lane widening works at the traffic circle on PR-160

Paraná, June 27, 2019 – Last Saturday (June 22), Klabin started lane widening works at the traffic circle on the PR-160 highway near Harmonia, which connects the cities of Telêmaco Borba and Curiúva. This widening will ensure safer and smoother traffic by adding 4 meters to the lane width. Works should last about three weeks, and no traffic restrictions, such as the “stop and go” system, are expected.

People driving around the region should pay attention to the signage and respect the speed limits. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to call Klabin at 0800 728 0607 or send an email to faleklabinpr@klabin.com.br

About the works on PR-160

This is one more activity envisaged in the project to improve PR-160, launched in January 2017 to ensure safer and smoother flow of traffic. The project is included in the agreement between Klabin and the Paraná state government, which determines that investments made on the highway be deducted from a portion of the ICMS tax payable by the company.

Klabin pioneered the adoption of mosaic-based forest stewardship, which consists of planted forests interspersed with preserved native forests, forming ecological corridors that help to maintain the biodiversity. Klabin’s forest area in Paraná totals 342,000 hectares, 142,000 of which are native forests. Klabin also maintains an Ecological Park in the Monte Alegre Farm in Telêmaco Borba for research and conservation purposes, which provides shelter and rehabilitates wild animals that are the victims of accidents or abuse, thus supporting the efforts of environmental authorities. It also helps to preserve the region’s flora and fauna, including endangered species.

Klabin’s management is entirely guided by Sustainable Development. Klabin has implemented most of its social and environmental programs in the Campos Gerais region, notably Social Forests – Planning Sustainable Properties, Legal Forests, Solid Waste Project, Growing Up Reading, Caiubi Program, Força Verde Mirim and Environmental Protectors.
