Santa Catarina, November 23, 2017 – Klabin received the Social and Environmental Management certificate from the Environment Foundation (Fatma) of the Santa Catarina state government for its Caiubi Program.The certificate was handed over at the 19th edition of the Fritz Müller Awards, which honor organizations and projects that stimulate efforts to improve the environment and more than meet current environmental laws.
The Caiubi Program is an initiative launched by Klabin in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina. In Santa Catarina, the company provides training to teachers in the 40 cities where it operates, disseminating ecological awareness concepts and grooming environmentally responsible citizens.Since 2007, the project has already impacted 442 schools, 1,242 teachers and more than 159,000 students.Each year, between two and four stages of the project are held in the state.
The awards ceremony was held on October 31, at Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, in which government officials, business representatives and community leaders participated. Mireli Moura Pitz, a biologist and Sustainability Analyst at Klabin, received the certificate on behalf of the company. In all, 20 organizations received the FATMA Environmental Management Certificate and 13 companies received the Fritz Müller Trophy.
