Klabin donates 8,500 corrugated board boxes to transport hand sanitizer in Bahia

São Paulo, March 23, 2020 — Klabin, aware of its role in preventing and fighting the coronavirus (Covid-19), has donated 8,500 corrugated board boxes to transport hand sanitizer. Produced at the Feira de Santana Unit in Bahia, the boxes will store 100,000 liters of the product and will be delivered to hospitals across the state through the National Industrial Training Service (Senai) in Salvador.

According to Douglas Dalmasi, Packaging director at Klabin, this is a sensitive moment for all and focused efforts on prevention will make a difference. “We must join forces to ensure that the population has access to the resources necessary to endure this moment,” he says.

The pulp and paper sector is a strong ally in keeping the society stocked with essential items. Over 80% of the pulp, paper and packaging produced by Klabin is earmarked for the food (fresh and processed food), hygiene (toilet paper, tissues and toothpaste, among others) and cleaning (washing powder and soap) segments. Its packaging solutions store, protect and transport essential items in people’s daily lives.

Klabin is also Brazil’s only producer of fluff pulp, a primary raw material for the production of adult and baby disposable diapers. In Brazil alone, the company supplies 50% of the market’s needs.

To ensure the continuity of its operations, health and safety protocols were intensified, several additional actions were included in the Company’s daily routine and non-essential activities were suspended.
