São Paulo, June 7, 2024 – Klabin, Brazil's largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and sustainable solutions in paper packaging, had three packaging projects recognized in this year's edition of the EMBANEWS award, considered one of the most prestigious awards in the country's packaging industry. The winning cases were: the Bag-In-Box packaging for Bem-Te-Vi olive oil; the Bag-In-Box packaging for Suvinil varnishes; and the packaging for the Aeroccino Coffee Maker - Nespresso Vertuo Kit.

 
The Bag-In-Box packaging project for Bem-Te-Vi olive oil, which won in the category Sustainability - Sustainable Process for Reducing the Consumption of Raw Material, Energy, Water, etc., brought advancements in sustainability by being an alternative to olive oil packaging solutions made of materials like plastic, glass or aluminum. As a corrugated board box with an internal plastic bag, the product has a high recyclability rate.

 
In the category Sustainability - Design and Production of Ecological Packaging, the winning project was the Bag-In-Box packaging for Suvinil varnishes.  Klabin and Suvinil partnered to develop a more sustainable, practical, safe and innovative packaging for water-based varnishes. Made of corrugated cardboard, the box contains a thin plastic bag inside to hold the varnish, which can be removed after the product is finished, simplifying the corrugated board recycling process and facilitating the sorting process at the recycling cooperatives.

 
The third winning project was the packaging for the Aeroccino Coffee Maker - Nespresso Vertuo Kit, in the Innovation category. The packaging was developed to accommodate the original imported packaging of the coffee maker and the milk frother packaging. Since welcome kit needs to be replaced, a box with assorted coffee capsules delivered inside the packaging as a courtesy, the project was aligned with the closing locks.  In the assembly line, this enables the replacement of such capsule box without the need to remove one packaging from inside the other, speeding up the process and keeping the capsules always within the expiration date. The packaging also brought advances in terms of printing, which can be done directly on the cardboard, leading to high-quality printing, product safety and prominence at the point of sale and in customized delivery actions.
