Klabin promotes events to prevent violence against women
In partnership with the Municipal Council for Women's Rights, group conversations and workshops were held and brought together representatives from Telêmaco Borba, Ortigueira, and Imbaú.
Paraná, August 29, 2024 - Klabin, in partnership with the Municipal Council for Women's Rights in Telêmaco Borba, held events aimed at preventing violence against women. With the participation of female leaders from the region, especially Telêmaco Borba, Ortigueira, and Imbaú, during two days of the event's program, residents of the region were able to attend lectures and interact in workshops on the subject.
The event featured workshops on non-violent communication and active listening, as well as pedagogical challenges and possibilities in actions to address violence. The proposal was to raise awareness for the care of victims who have suffered some type of abuse. On the second day, a group conversation was held at the Casa da Cultura in Telêmaco Borba about the rights of women and girls, and how to respond to situations of violence, with the participation of several organizations dedicated to the issue. The participants were invited to share difficulties they have experienced and challenges in addressing violence.
According to the bulletin Elas Vivem: Liberdade de Ser e Viver (They Live: The Freedom to Be and to Live), published by the Rede de Observatórios de Segurança, every 24 hours, about eight women are victims of violence. Klabin's Social Responsibility and Community Relations coordinator, Priscila Basile, emphasizes that access to knowledge is the main way to change this scenario, highlighting the importance of publicizing available channels for reporting and the work of the network for combating these issues. "Encouraging reflection and the exchange of experiences is crucial to reverse these numbers." Information is the most powerful tool to educate and raise awareness in society," she says.
According to Bruna Javorski, the president of the Municipal Council for Women's Rights in Telêmaco Borba, the private sector involvement in this matter represents a necessary reinforcement for ensuring the safety of women. "When society sees itself as a protagonist in the fight against violence, as much as the state, we can transform realities." Klabin is an extremely important partner for us, present and active in all our actions, in addition to promoting training programs, capacity building and the monitoring of social assistance services.
