With the support of Klabin, Family Farming Fair is inaugurated in Telêmaco Borba

The initiative is a partnership between the company, the Local Government, the Family Farming Cooperative Center, and Sebrae

Paraná, July 26, 2024 – Telêmaco Borba has just gained a dedicated space for the sale of high-quality food to the community. The new Family Farming Fair was inaugurated on Friday, July 26, located on the ground floor of the current Bus Terminal building, in the city center. The initiative is carried out by Telêmaco Borba Local Government, the Central-North Paraná Family Farming Cooperative Center, and Klabin, through the Social Forests Program, in partnership with Sebrae. The fair will be permanent, open from Tuesday to Friday, 10 am to 7 pm, and on Saturdays, 8 am to 1 pm.

The new Family Farming Fair will offer vegetables and leafy greens, such as lettuce, endive, arugula, cabbage, chicory, mustard greens, tomato, carrot, beet, chayote, sweet potato and cassava. It will also offer products like breads, cookies, and jams. The food will be replenished frequently, with priority given to fresh vegetables and leafy greens, both organic and conventional. Fruits will be offered according to seasonal availability.

The new fair space will have an ambience based on sensory design, meaning it aims to provide a unique experience to customers, highlighting farmers' products and making their sale more attractive. Sebrae mapped the consumption habits of fruits and vegetables, the profile of consumers and farmers, and suggested the design of the space. Everything was designed according to the principles of sustainability and innovation. The furniture is made of wood and corrugated board. The cardboard furniture is exclusively produced by Klabin. The decor values cooperativism and rural life, and brings back the ambiance of old markets.

"Klabin's Social Forests family farming program aims to strengthen small and medium-sized farmers and encourage the population to consume quality food produced in the region. With the new fair, we will stimulate the economy of the participating municipalities, generating income for nearly a thousand families,” said Uilson Paiva, Social Responsibility and Community Relations manager at Klabin.

Regiane Aparecida Moura da Silva, president of the Cooperative Center, points out that the fair also brings opportunities to encourage family agribusiness. "In addition to fruits and vegetables, bread, sweets, pasta, cookies, dairy and other food products will be sold. Industrialization enhances local production and diversifies the income of small and medium-sized producers. As a Cooperative Center, our role is to welcome and empower farmers across the region, and the fair in Telêmaco Borba strengthens this mission,” said Regiane.

The Cooperative Center is composed of five cooperatives: COAF (from São Jerônimo da Serra), Copasol (from Sapopema), Coopervati (from Telêmaco Borba), Coocat-Mel (from Imbaú) and Copercandi (from Cândido de Abreu). Together, they have more than 900 associated families, from 40 municipalities in the state of Paraná.

The office of the Cooperative Center was established in a room adjacent to the fair, with designated areas for food storage and distribution.
