Klabin completes 125 years and celebrates its trajectory based on efficiency

From forests to paper packaging, the Company has been reinventing itself and has stood out for excellence in its processes, quality of its products and its diversified portfolio

São Paulo, April 19, 2024 – This month, Klabin celebrates 125 years of a history marked by its leadership in the paper and pulp sector. Founded in Brazil in 1899, its successful trajectory is grounded on the constant pursuit of operational efficiency through investments in technologies and sustainability, as well as operational expansion and its efforts to consolidate its global footprint.

Currently, Klabin is among the world’s most sustainable and efficient companies, whose integrated, diversified and flexible business model starts with planted and certified eucalyptus and pine forests - which are among the most productive on the planet – and ends with the offering of the most diverse paper solutions. Through four business units – forest, pulp, paper and packaging, Klabin boasts a robust portfolio of products sold in Brazil and around the world, and is the only one in Brazil to produce three types of pulp – hardwood (eucalyptus), softwood (pine) and fluff – in the same industrial unit.

This year, the Company completes one more important expansion cycle in its history -  the operational startup of the Figueira Project, which comprises a new corrugated board packaging plant in Piracicaba (SP), slated for the second quarter this year. Among the highlights of recent years are the conclusion of the Puma II Project with the startup of paper machines 27 and 28, as well as investments to increase the conversion capacity into packaging and forest acquisitions.

Strong presence in Brazil and around the world

In its 125 year-history, Klabin has expanded its operations to all regions across Brazil, where it operates 22 manufacturing units, and one in Argentina, as well as forest areas in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, totaling 751,000 hectares, 42% of which are dedicated to biodiversity conservation. Currently, the Company has sales offices in North America and Europe, exports its products to more than 80 countries and has more than 17,000 employees.
