Space features collection of recyclable waste, which will be exchanged for food from the Feira do Bem and donated to charitable institutions

Paraná, March 18 - Held from March 15 to 21, Expo Telêmaco 2024 features participation from Klabin, which is at the event raising awareness about the proper disposal of solid waste. In partnership with the Municipal Government of Telêmaco Borba and Ambipar Environment, the company provides dedicated structures for collecting recyclable waste. The materials collected during the event will be exchanged for food that will be distributed to charitable associations in the municipality. 

Approximately 10 waste bins are distributed across the Mieceslau Malinowski Events Center and marked to receive materials made of metal, paper, cardboard, glass, and plastic. The recyclables collected will be sent for treatment at the Cooperative of Environmental Agents - ReciclaTB, which is part of Klabin's Solid Waste Program, and subsequently delivered to the Feira do Bem, to be exchanged for fruits and vegetables, sold by local farmers. The amount collected is updated daily on the event screens. 

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and social responsibility, Klabin and the Municipal Government will disclose the total volume of recyclables collected and the amount of food donated after the fair ends. 

During the days of Expo Telêmaco, Klabin is also present with a booth to share information about the Company's operations in Paraná. Visitors can learn about the company's production cycle, from the planting of pine and eucalyptus trees, through industrial processes until the finished products, present in people's daily lives, and they can also learn about the company's socio-environmental programs carried out in municipalities in the region. In addition, there is a space with images of local wildlife, for visitors to take photos, and an interactive memory game, with socio-environmental programs as the key theme.

Programs involved in waste disposal

The Klabin's Solid Waste Program, developed in partnership with the Consórcio Caminhos do Tibagi and Ambipar Environment, supports cooperatives and associations in municipalities in Paraná in adapting to the requirements of the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS). With the program, the Company involves municipal management sectors and local recycling agents to disseminate knowledge, qualify and formalize waste management work, also providing environmental education. 
The Feira do Bem is a program of the Municipal Government of Telêmaco Borba that encourages the proper disposal of recyclable waste, through the exchange of this type of waste for food produced, preferably, by local farmers. For every three kilograms donated, residents receive one kilogram of fruits and vegetables.

Expo Telêmaco 2024 takes place from March 15 to 21 at the Mieceslau Malinowski Events Center in Telêmaco Borba.
