Located at the Port of Paranaguá (PR), PAR-01 contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and brings greater operational efficiency to the Company
São Paulo, February 15, 2023 – In its first year of activity, the Klabin Port Terminal, PAR-01, located at the port of Paranaguá (PR), has been consolidated in the Company's export flow, achieving significant milestones that have brought operational excellence and advances in its sustainability strategy. Since its inauguration in December 2022, 664,000 tons of pulp, produced at the Ortigueira plant in Paraná, have been shipped.
The installation of solar panels, with capacity to generate around 270 megawatt-hour per year, has allowed a reduction of 3.6 tons of CO2, strengthening Klabin's commitment to clean energy sources, while the shift to rail transportation has enabled an 85% reduction in emissions, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainable logistics practices. The Terminal also registered that 30% of its workforce is female, which attests to the company's efforts towards an equitable workplace.
The Port Terminal of Klabin, the largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and sustainable paper packaging solutions, spans an area of 27,530 m² at the port of Paranaguá (PR) and has a direct rail connection to the Puma unit in Ortigueira (PR). The strategic location allows a reduction in truck traffic in cargo transportation to ships, previously operated in a warehouse located 5 km from the waterfront.
