Klabin renews sponsorship of athletics program in Reserva, Paraná
Klabin’s support reinforces the Superação Project and provides opportunities for athletes’ development
Paraná, June 15, 2023 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and sustainable solutions in paper packaging, renewed its partnership with Superação, an athletics program at the Teófila Nassar Jangada State School, a rural school located in the José Lacerda District some 20 km away from the municipality of Reserva, Paraná, that is managing to deliver excellent results.
The partnership between Klabin and the Superação Project started in 2022. The company supports the initiative on various fronts, including making improvements to the facilities used for training, donating sports and educational materials, providing travel fare or fuel for athletes who cannot afford transport outside of school hours and donating food staple boxes and items for athlete nutrition and hydration during competitions.
Klabin joining the project was essential for reaching new milestones, such as winning 101 medals in 2022, or 68% more than in 2019, when the team won 60 medals and did not have the company’s support. “The excellent results in 2022 are certainly linked to the team’s partnership with Klabin, which spared no efforts to support the Superação Project by improving the training conditions and nutrition of athletes and supporting their participation in competitions. We also saw significant improvement in aspects such as performance, self-esteem, interest in sports and, in some cases, even improvement in school performance,” said the coach of the athletics team, Mauro Jeferson Jesen Dos Santos.
The partnership’s renewal demonstrates the company’s commitment to social responsibility and the importance of supporting organizations to foster the development of children and youth. “Through support for social projects like this, Klabin reinforces its goal of improving the well-being of the communities where it operates, which includes encouraging the practice of sports as a path to social inclusion and ascension,” said Uilson Paiva, Social Responsibility and Community Relations manager at Klabin.
According to Coach Mauro Jeferson Jesen Dos Santos, renewal of the partnership between Klabin and the Superação Project is very good news. He said that “in addition to the great results achieved after the Company joined the project, the partnership has been having a significant impact on lives of many children and young people, since the project plays an essential role in the lives of these athletes and provides them with a safe and welcoming environment where they can learn new skills and develop their potential.”
The best ranked athletes in the regional phase of the Paraná School Games (JEPS) qualify for the Macroregional phase, which will occur in June. The following phases are the state and then national competitions.
