Paraná, May 16, 2023 – Klabin and the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Logistics of Paraná (SEIL) have delivered three new stretches of the third lane on highway PR-160, which connects Telêmaco Borba and Imbaú. In all, five new segments are planned for the 26.5 km stretch of the state highway in Campos Gerais. At an investment of nearly R$28 million, the works are the result of a partnership between Klabin and the State Government of Paraná, through SEIL, the state highways department (DER/PR) and the Secretariat of Finance. 

The stretches, totaling 2.5 km and located between the roundabout of the industrial district in Telêmaco Borba and the access to PR-340, between kilometers 221 and 223, were delivered recently by Klabin. Two other segments within the same project and close to the city limits of Imbaú are under construction and should be delivered in the second half of the year. These continue with the stop and go system from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday, between kilometers 230 and 235, which is expected to continue until October 2023. 

The goal of this initiative is to improve road safety, logistics and traffic in the region, besides promoting the development of local communities. “This work is another important landmark for the region. We know the importance of this stretch for the mobility of residents of Telêmaco Borba and Imbaú who commute there every day, as it brings greater safety to the communities”, said João Braga, Director of Projects and Engineering at Klabin. 

During the period of works, drivers should be extra careful while driving there, respecting the construction signs and speed limits. Residents of the region must pay attention when leaving their properties or rural roads and accessing the highway. They must observe the direction of traffic before proceeding and also respect the signs of operators in the region. In case of rain or low visibility, services may be postponed or suspended. During this period, the highway may occasionally be closed temporarily. 

“The State Government of Paraná is an important ally of the private sector, since there is a common goal: the state’s economic development, combined with social and environmental responsibility. Klabin, one of the most important companies for the economy in Southern Brazil, is an example of this collaboration with its investments in works across the Telêmaco Borba region”, said Sandro Alex, the Infrastructure and Logistics secretary of Paraná. 

AGREEMENT – There will be more works in the region through a partnership between the State Government of Paraná and Klabin. The Company, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging and paper packaging, has invested over R$20 billion in Paraná over the last decade.
