Program strengthens the public school system and supports the development of communities in Campos Gerais

Paraná, March 3, 2023 – Klabin’s Sowing Education Program has launched its 2023 training program for professionals in the municipal school system of Campos Gerais, Paraná.  From January to February, the municipalities of Ortigueira, Congonhinhas, Imbaú, Tibagi and Ventania administered training for administrators and teachers. The program promotes improvement in public education through training in good school management practices as well as educational training in the subjects of Portuguese and Mathematics.

The initiative currently operates at 158 schools in 12 municipalities of Paraná (Congonhinhas, Curiúva, Doutor Ulysses, Imbaú, Ortigueira, Reserva, Rio Branco do Ivaí, Rio Negro, Sapopema, Telêmaco Borba, Tibagi, Ventania). It also has activities in five cities in the state of Santa Catarina, two in São Paulo and one in Pernambuco. The program has achieved positive results by contributing to improvement in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) and promoting the development of equitable, inclusive and quality public education.
  
To Fabiane Valenga Rodrigues, who teaches the 2nd and 5th grades at Escola Municipal Afonso Pena in Imbaú, Klabin’s Sowing Education training program helps her to apply course content in the classroom. “The training has enabled us teachers to more clearly and objective apply theoretical concepts involving the entire teaching and learning process,” she said. 

“Klabin’s Sowing Education has helped me to explain Mathematics to my students more creatively and to better understand how to help them in their writing process,” said Joseli Aparecida dos Santos Fernandes, an Elementary School I teacher at Escola Doutor Getúlio Vargas, in the municipality of Ortigueira.

At least eight workshops (on-site and remote) and recorded activities make up the training program of the professionals involved in Klabin’s Sowing Education. The on-site training administered over the year is complemented by on-line meetings.

“Investing in education in our local communities is part of Klabin’s Sustainability Policy, and the positive results encourage us to continue on this path,” said Uilson Paiva, Social Responsibility and Community Relations manager at Klabin.
