Klabin included again in “The Sustainability Yearbook”, the global sustainability ranking of S&P Global

Klabin remains Latin America’s only company in the Top 1% S&P Global ESG Score

São Paulo, February 27, 2023 – Klabin’s sustainable activities, with its continuous actions on the Environmental, Social and fronts, ensured its inclusion, for the third straight year, in The Sustainability Yearbook, a global sustainability ranking organized by the international consulting firm S&P Global. In this edition, the largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging and sustainable solutions in paper packaging in Brazil was one of the world’s top-ranked companies and the only one in Latin America to figure in the Top 1% S&P Global ESG Score, a category formed by companies with the best performance in each sector.

An important source of data for the financial market, The Sustainability Yearbook assessed over 7,000 companies, of which 708 were selected for the index and only 67 achieved the Top1% S&P Global ESG Score. In the evaluation of S&P Global (CSA), which also is used for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Klabin scored 86 points and placed second in the overall ranking.

“The adoption of best ESG practices guides how Klabin operates, and the many recognitions we received attest to the effectiveness of these actions. To receive once again a recognition based on so many criteria and that is a global reference like The Sustainability Yearbook marks another important achievement in our sustainability efforts and encourages us to keep seeking continuous improvement in our processes and products, governance systems and all stakeholder relations,” said Francisco Razzolini, director of Industrial Technology, Innovation, Sustainability and Projects at Klabin.

Other recognitions in sustainability

Klabin’s inclusion in The Sustainability Yearbook 2022 comes in addition to the many other recognitions in Sustainability recently received by Klabin. In December, the Company renewed its inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), as a component of the World Index. It also was included, for the second straight year, in the “Triple A-List” of the CDP, remaining in the select group of companies with ‘A’ scores in the CDP’s climate change, forestry and water security programs. Only 12 companies worldwide have achieved the maximum score, and Klabin was the only Latin American company included among the more than 10,000 that participated in the process.
