São Paulo, September 16, 2022 - Klabin, the largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and sustainable solutions in paper packaging in Brazil, will participate in debates during the week when the UN General Assembly meets in New York.

Cristiano Teixeira, CEO of Klabin, is one of the guests at the Climate Justice panel discussion at the “SDGs in Brazil” forum to be held at the UN headquarters, which will be attended by more than 200 Brazilian business leaders and CEOs, as well as local and international investors, foundations and personalities. Klabin launched the ImPacto NetZero movement in partnership with the UN Global Compact Network Brazil, which calls on companies to study the adoption of science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 

“It is a huge responsibility to debate ideas with business leaders and experts to showcase to the world the initiatives rolled out by the private sector in Brazil to achieve the targets on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. At Klabin, we create recyclable and biodegradable solutions from renewable sources, recognize the importance of building a sustainable economy and strive to increase society's awareness of the future of the planet,” said Cristiano Teixeira.

Klabin will also be represented in a panel discussion on targets linked to SDGs, in which Marcos Ivo, the Chief Financial and Investor Relations Officer, will participate.  The meeting will provide the opportunity for CFOs, sustainability experts and investors to exchange ideas on how corporate finance and investments can help mobilize the private sector to respond to the food, energy and financial crises.

“Addressing various aspects of the efforts made by companies to create a positive impact from the strategies and investments focused on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals is essential in a forum such as this,” emphasized Marcos Ivo.

“SDGs in Brazil”, which will be attended by Cristiano Teixeira, will be held on September 17 at the UN headquarters, whereas  the SDG Investment Forum, in which Marcos Ivo will participate, will be held on September 20 at the SAP Purpose and Sustainability Center.
