Klabin Sowing Education concludes first half of 2022 with good results and expansion in Santa Catarina
Semester was marked by the second edition of Good Educational Practices Competition, one of the initiative’s activities for recognizing educational professionals
Santa Catarina, July 13, 2022 – Engaged in fostering the development of local communities, Klabin commemorates the good results achieved in the first half of 2022 in Santa Catarina state by Klabin Sowing Education, an initiative that works to improve the quality of public school administration and the continuing education of public school teachers. Implemented in Otacílio Costa, Lages and Correia Pinto and expanded to the municipalities of Palmeira and Ponte Alta in early 2022, the program works in coordination with municipal governments and local education departments.
One of the actions carried out in the period was the second edition of the Good Educational Practices Competition, which is part of the Klabin Sowing Education program that works to recognize and value professionals who develop successful educational practices for the teaching-learning process, as well as school administrations dedicated to offering the prerequisite conditions for developing projects centered on further basic education.
In all, 44 initiatives were submitted in 2021 to compete with projects related to recycling, happiness, kindness, fun and games, sensory experiences, reading, combatting racism, and family. One teacher and one educator were recognized in each city, with the winning actions highlighted on the Klabin Sowing Education website.
With long history of working together with local communities, Klabin Sowing Education reformulated its initial proposal and, in 2019, resumed an approach driven by the mission of supporting Municipal Education Departments in participating cities to improve their Basic Educational Development Index (IDEB). Today, the project’s activities support 188 municipal public schools in 20 cities in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, São Paulo and Pernambuco, benefiting 24,000 students and 1,345 educational professionals.
“We are truly satisfied to end the first half of this year with the actions of Klabin Sowing Education being expanding across Santa Catarina. This expansion in our operations shows that we are on the right path and contributing positively and meaningfully to improving the IDEB scores of municipalities,” explained Uilson Paiva, Social Responsibility and Community Relations manager at Klabin.
Klabin Sowing Education addresses SDG 4 – “Quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all” and is part of the Company’s 2030 Agenda that defines the Klabin Sustainable Development Goals (KSDG), which is a set of short-, medium- and long-term commitments that organize and guide the priority Environmental, Social and Governance goals for the company, based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
