Klabin included in the CDP Climate Resilience Index for the third consecutive year

Only two companies received score “A” in the 2022 questionnaire on measures to combat climate change

São Paulo, May 5, 2022 – For the third straight year, Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging and paper packaging, has been included in the CDP Brazil Climate Resilience Index (ICDPR70).  Besides making it to the list, the Company has received the score “A”, which attests to the importance of the practices to help mitigate climate change in its operations and businesses.  Apart from Klabin, only one company in the energy sector has received the highest score in the list, which this year includes 36 companies from eight different sectors.  The complete report is available here.

Launched in 2020, the CDP Brazil Climate Resilience Index establishes a theoretical portfolio of companies with a high level of awareness on climate issues and which have implemented measures to address this issue in their strategy and risk management.  The portfolio is built after an analysis of technical, qualitative and quantitative criteria, based on public data licensed by B3 and information self-declared by companies participating in the CDP, which enables it to measure their performance in relation to their transition to a low carbon economy.  Inclusion in the portfolio is exclusive to companies that obtain at least “B-” in the evaluation, report publicly and are among the 100 best positioned in the tradability criterion, among other premises.

Since the launch of ICDPR70, Klabin has been in the three lists disclosed in 2020, 2021 and 2022, always in the leadership classification. “Klabin's continued presence in the Climate Resilience Index demonstrates the advanced stage of its practices that make up the ESG Agenda, especially in managing climate change.  Every year, we have continued implementing the best practices on this front, and the market’s recognition attests to the excellence of our actions,” said Francisco Razzolini, executive officer - Industrial Technology, Innovation, Sustainability and Projects.

Klabin included in CDP’s “Triple A” list
In 2021, Klabin was recognized by CDP for its sustainable operations, becoming the first company in Latin America to achieve the “Triple A” status, that is, receiving the score “A” for its programs on climate change, water security and forests.  This feat was achieved by just 14 companies around the world, out of more than 12,000 companies analyzed.
