Klabin reinforces its commitment to new donations for combatting COVID-19 

Medicines, testing and new professionals will support the new Respiratory Symptoms Care Center in Telêmaco Borba as well as other municipalities in the 21st Health Region

Paraná, February 21, 2022 – Always carefully monitoring any increase in Coronavirus cases in the state of Paraná, Klabin, always seeking to strengthen its citizenship actions, continues to provide assistance to municipalities in the 21st Health Region in the fight against the pandemic. This week, the company launched another phase of donations that include medications for respiratory syndromes and for hospital use, 9,000 rapid tests that will be distributed to neighboring communities and the hiring of qualified professionals to offer assistance to the community.
The financial contribution, estimated at around R$800,000, will support the opening of a new temporary healthcare center for patients with respiratory symptoms that will operate out of the Heitor Furtado Sports Gymnasium (Furtadão) located in Telêmaco Borba, Paraná. Actions for controlling the Coronavirus in the region have been included on the agenda of the Inter-Sectorial Committee for Combating COVID-19, of which Klabin has been a member since 2020. 
“Klabin remains engaged in combating COVID-19, supporting medical care for the public and strengthening its citizenship, especially at this critical moment with rising number of cases,” said Uilson Paiva, Social Responsibility and Community Relations manager at Klabin.
Since the pandemic started, Klabin has carried out various actions that demonstrate its responsibility and commitment to society, working as part of an important coalition of forces jointly with the public sector to combat the pandemic. Important support measures include delivering the Regional Campaign Hospital, donating respirators, COVID-19 tests, chemical inputs for cleaning products, hand sanitizer, hiring healthcare professionals and covering the costs of ICU beds at Instituto Dr. Feitosa in 2020 and 2021. Over the last two years, the Company has allocated some R$13 million in donations to combating COVID-19 in Paraná state.
