General Shutdown at Puma Unit enters final phase

Paraná, February 17, 2022 – Today, February 17, the Puma Unit began procedures to restart the plant and demobilize the teams hired for the General Shutdown, which began on February 7. The inspections and maintenance carried out during the period are standard procedures performed by industrial facilities to ensure their operational reliability and the safety of both workers and local communities. The period is also used to implement improvements and new technologies that optimize the quality of production processes to align them with regulatory standards and best practices in the industry.

Once the shutdown is completed, the machinery, furnaces, boilers and other equipment are restarted, which could create unusual odors and noises near the unit, which is normal. However, the company reinforces that they do not pose any risk to public health or to the environment.

COMPLETION AND RESULTS OF GENERAL SHUTDOWN – The progress and safety of the general shutdown is ensured by the combined efforts of various teams, which are highly experienced in the intense planning and execution of rigorous safety and health protocols. These mandatory practices include physical distancing, wearing masks, washing hands, measuring temperatures upon entering the unit and closely monitoring any symptoms.

The rigorous health and safety precautions adopted by workers remain in place until the demobilization and General Shutdown are completed, when the health professionals contracted to perform triage and other actions for preventing the spread of Covid-19 will be transferred to the 21st Regional Health team to support the efforts to contain the pandemic.
