Klabin is announced as Supplier Engagement Leader by CDP

Action recognizes Klabin’s performance among companies worldwide in engaging its suppliers in the climate change issue

São Paulo, February 16, 2022 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging and paper packaging, has just been announced by CDP, a global nonprofit that manages a global environmental reporting system for companies, cities, states and regions, as one of the companies in its global Supplier Engagement Leaderboard. The recognition endorses the actions taken by the company to engage its chain in the climate change issue.

The announcement was made together with the disclosure of CDP’s report “Engaging the chain: driving speed and scale,” which highlights the urgent need for companies to disseminate measures and actions across their supply chain to achieve the necessary speed and scale to avoid environmental crises.

“Klabin’s history has been connected to sustainability since its foundation 122 years ago. In addition to the consistent actions taken within our company, we understand our responsibility and strive to roll out initiatives that engage all the players in our chain. This recognition consolidates our work beyond the company’s walls and motivates us to remain on this path so that more and more people, companies and communities come together for our planet,” said Francisco Razzolini, Executive Officer - Industrial Technology, Innovation, Sustainability and Projects at Klabin.

The study evaluates companies’ performance in  supplier engagement based on their response to select questions on governance, science-based decarbonization targets, reduction of scope 3 emissions and engagement of the supply chain for greater climate justice. Among the companies worldwide that participated in the survey, only 8% were featured in the Supplier Engagement Leaderboard.

In addition, the company was placed by CDP in the Triple A category, obtaining the highest score for climate change, water and forest programs, being the only Latin American company to achieve this feat.
