On the International Day for Biological Diversity, Klabin Ecological Park launches webpage with virtual tour

Users can take a virtual tour of the Park’s visiting structure, which spans an area of about 10,000 hectares

Paraná, May 20, 2021 – On May 22, we celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity, a date announced by the United Nations to increase awareness of issues related to the richness and diversity of species found in nature. To celebrate the day, Klabin, which has a historical commitment to environmental preservation, has launched on its Ecological Park website a page featuring a ground-level 360o virtual tour for users to explore the Park’s visiting structure in detail.

With this technology, users from anywhere in the world can visit Klabin Ecological Park (PEK) remotely and see the enclosures of 180 animals of 50 different species living there, such as the puma, the pigmy brocket deer and the Brazilian tapir. They can also explore the Park’s native forest located in the Monte Alegre Farm in Telêmaco Borba, Paraná, learn more about the park’s mission and history and the species it shelters, as well as the technical details. The Ecological Park is dedicated to managing biodiversity through integration with other actions and projects implemented by the Company’s environment and sustainability areas.

“The priority of Klabin Ecological Park is to manage biodiversity and act as a rehabilitation center for animals so that they can be returned to the wild or remain at the park  zoo as part of species conservation and study programs. We understand its importance for the population, which is why we created the online visitation technology,” says Francisco Razzolini, director of Industrial Technology, Innovation, Sustainability and Projects at Klabin.

In order to prioritize animal well-being, the Klabin Ecological Park will shorten its onsite visiting hours when the pandemic stabilizes in the region and the COVID-19-related decrees are relaxed. The system will work on a pre-reservation basis, with priority given to schools, as well as academic and research entities and institutions.
