Klabin opens registration for Sustainability Pitch Day

São Paulo, August 18, 2020 – The efforts of Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper are focused on initiatives to increase sustainability in the management of its businesses. As such, on August 18, Klabin opened registration for another edition of Pitch Day. The open innovation program seeks to attract partners that help the company find the best destination for dregs, the solid waste generated in pulp manufacturing, for efficient applications that help to foster the circular economy.

The dregs, which are solid materials composed of chemical agents, are generated in the pulp manufacturing process at the Telêmaco Borba and Ortigueira mills in the state of Paraná. The waste has uses in agriculture, cement works, ceramics, bricks, pottery, clinker and paving.

“Pitch Days have proven an important tool for solving challenges and bringing together partners who want to be part of the collective effort to build a sustainable future. “We obtained excellent results in our previous programs,” said Renata Freesz, Klabin’s Innovation manager.
