Paraná, July 17, 2020 –  Education is one of the areas that most needed to reinvent itself due to the new coronavirus pandemic. One of the needs was to put distance learning methods in practice using technology or print media, with close monitoring by families and the learning of lessons brought by the transformation of homes into a new pedagogical learning environment. These and other reflections were discussed at the webinar organized by the Klabin Sowing Education program last week, in which more than 400 participants, including managers, teachers and parents of students of municipal schools in Telêmaco Borba, Ortigueira and Imbaú participated. The first live webinar held by Klabin Sowing Education was attended by Roberta Panico, director of Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC), which registered more than 2,000 views on YouTube.

The Klabin Sowing Education program organized the online event to broaden discussions on the importance of thinking of new ways of teaching that go beyond the known physical school environment, taking into consideration the different realities of students and their families during this pandemic. “The school and academic routine of children and teens must continue in any scenario and, for that, it is extremely necessary to have a redesigned curriculum”, said Roberta Panico.

One good example of adapting to pandemic times, which demands physical distancing, was the content of the Klabin Sowing Education program itself, which started to strengthen the so-called “digital literacy”, assisting teachers to become familiar with Internet tools, as well as scheduling distance classes, meetings and online relationship with students. “The use of digital tools was already part of the original program, but gained impetus and urgency with the pandemic. We took advantage of this requirement imposed by the current situation to speed up the learning process for teachers, who received the idea very well”, says Uilson Paiva, Social Responsibility and Community Relations manager at Klabin.

The program aims to improve the management of public resources for education, with the emphasis on results, and seeks a balance between school management, infrastructure, resources and academic practices through diverse training programs for professionals in the field. The result of a partnership between Klabin and the Municipal Education Departments of Telêmaco Borba, Imbaú and Ortigueira, the Klabin Sowing Education program benefits approximately 11,000 students in the region.
