Desenvolvimento local e Projetos Sociais

Klabin expands its social-educational projects to the Puma Unit

Paraná, March 14, 2017 – Klabin will expand, starting this month, its social-educational projects to Ortigueira, Paraná, in partnership with the municipal government. The initiative, which is offered free to its employees’ children and to youth in the local community, aims to promote a sense of self-worth and improve quality of life for local youth and to reinforce the exercise of citizenship by exposing them to the arts.

One of the projects to be implemented is Klabin Passo Certo, which consists of classes on contemporary dance and capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music, to boys age six and older and to girls age seven and older. The stimulation offered by contact from an early age to such activities provides benefits to the youth and contributes to their development. This process begins with their introduction into society and the onset of their interpersonal relationships, and supports the development of a collaborative spirit and respect for others. The program was created in partnership with Studio 3 Cia. de Dança at the Monte Alegre Unit in Telêmaco Borba, Paraná in 2008, and since then has benefited more than 900 students.

Klabin’s Singing Girls is another project to be introduced in Ortigueira, for girls age seven and up. The program consists of classes on choir, musical theory, rhythm and vocal techniques and boasts a repertoire that ranges from classical, popular and folk music to Christmas songs. In addition to helping integrate participants, the music promotes their intellectual development and contributes to their capacity to learn and concentrate. Since the project’s creation, in 2004, 939 girls have had an opportunity to participate as well as to give performances in the states of Paraná, São Paulo and Santa Catarina. One of the activities realized by participants in the Singing Girls project is the traditional Klabin Christmas Carols, an event held annually at the Ikapê Hotel in Telêmaco Borba, which features the performance of various songs to celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

The two projects, which were first implemented at the Monte Alegre Unit in Telêmaco Borba, have already benefitted over 1,900 children. Now, Ortigueira will have an opportunity to host these social-educational programs. For more information, please contact Ilsiane Haag, by e-mail: ihaag@klabin.com.br, or telephone: +55 (42) 3271-5580.
