Klabin addresses the issue of Solid Waste in Environment Month campaign

In the month in which World Environment Day is celebrated (June 5), Klabin launched the “Your Waste Has a Future” campaign. The purpose of the campaign is to demonstrate the company’s concern not only with the disposal of waste produced by industrial processes, but also with the sustainable development of the communities where it is present. Klabin supports the UN commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and has joined hands with other organizations to put into practice a global action plan for the benefit of people, the planet, as well as peace and prosperity.

Key points on these two issues are included in Klabin’s Sustainability Policy. Item 6 addresses the prevention of pollution by reducing the environmental impacts of its production processes, while item 11 addresses the practice of social responsibility with the focus on communities where Klabin operates.

As a result, Klabin this month reports that 92% of industrial waste from the Monte Alegre and Puma units are recycled and converted into agricultural inputs and construction materials. Also worth mention is the Solid Waste Project, Klabin’s initiative in partnership with the Caminhos do Tibagi Consortium, for the management of solid waste generated in seven cities in the Campos Gerais region of Paraná.
