Klabin launches repair works on Highway PR-340

Paraná, July 12, 2019 – On Thursday (11), Klabin started repair works on Highway PR-160, which connects Telêmaco Borba with Tibagi. A section near kilometer 291 collapsed due to a landslide caused by the heavy rains in the region, which resulted in the highways closure.

In partnership with the Paraná state government, which is responsible for developing the project and approving the environmental and social licenses, Klabin began the repair works, which should take around 60 days, provided weather conditions remain in line with the historical trend for the month. Once the works to repair the aggregate base and drainage, repave the road and improve the signage are completed, the highway will be reopened.

During this period, small vehicles of up to four tons that must travel between the two cities can take the detour of approximately six kilometers, which starts at kilometer 291 at the exit to Campina Alta and ends at kilometer 293.

It also helps to preserve the region’s flora and fauna, including endangered species.

Klabin’s management is entirely guided by Sustainable Development. Klabin has implemented most of its social and environmental programs in the Campos Gerais region, notably Social Forests – Planning Sustainable Properties, Legal Forests, Solid Waste Project, Growing Up Reading, Caiubi Program, Força Verde Mirim and Environmental Protectors.
