Work focused on developing sustainable solutions combined with the lowest possible environmental impact earned the recognition 

São Paulo, December 8, 2021 — Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and paper packaging, brings more positive news for the year 2021.  The Company was recognized for its sustainability efforts by CDP, a global non-profit organization that manages a global environmental disclosure system for companies, cities, states and regions.  Klabin was the first company in Latin America to achieve the “Triple A” score and be ranked as an “A” company for the climate change, water safety and forestry programs.  This year, only 14 companies from around the world achieved this score, whereas more than 12,000 companies participated in the process.

This result recognizes the Company’s efforts all along to develop products and services that increasingly prioritize the sustainability of businesses and the planet. According to CDP, through significant actions on the issues highlighted by it, Klabin has been leading corporate environmental ambition, actions and transparency around the world.

B3 Corporate Sustainability Index
Another important recognition is being included - for the ninth straight year – in the annual portfolio of B3’s Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE). 

Stocks in this portfolio were selected based on participation criteria and the new ISE methodology, which now uses external data on climate governance and reputational risk, as well as sector-specific questionnaires on the most important themes for each economic segment. Another important change is that the selected components now are weighted by the B3 ISE Score.

Note that, in November 2021, Klabin retained its position - for the second straight year - in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, in the World Index and Emerging Markets Index categories, reaffirming its position as one of the global leaders in good practices.

According to Júlio Nogueira, sustainability and environmental manager at Klabin, being part of select global lists disclosed by CDP, B3 and Dow Jones underscores the Company’s mission to prioritize a green agenda in its daily operations. “The sustainable essence has always been part of Klabin’s history. We combine technology and bioeconomy to create solutions for a sustainable future. This engagement brings us recognition and motivates even further to continue this mission,” he added.
