Santa Catarina, 6 de dezembro de 2021 - Klabin was just recognized in two categories of the Fritz Muller Award 2021, considered the most important environmental distinction in Santa Catarina state. Klabin was named champion in the Natural Resources and Wildlife Conservation section for the project Monitoring Wildlife in High Conservation Value Areas and in the Environmental Education section for the 20 years of its Caiubi Environmental Education Program. 

 
High Conservation Value Areas (HCVAs) are regions that hold significant social and environmental values and whose biodiversity and ecosystems are considered threatened or endangered. The conservation attributes defined by Klabin for these areas are based on criteria established by the Principle 9  of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and of the ProForest Guide. Ensuring regular maintenance and continuous improvement, the periodic monitoring is conducted through partnerships with researchers, educational and research institutions, as well as specialized consulting firms. 

 
Meanwhile, Klabin’s environmental education program, which was created in Paraná, in 2001, was expanded to other regions where the company operates, arriving in Santa Catarina in 2007, Feira de Santana, Bahia, in 2019, and São Leopoldo, Rio Grande do Sul, in 2021. In all, more than 4,800 teachers have benefited from this action over these 20 years, reaching over 457,000 students and 2,470 schools.
