New course launched on Integrated Heavy Machinery Maintenance; first grads are already interns at Klabin

Paraná, November 4, 2021 – The Forestry and Agriculture Vocational Training Center of Ortigueira has opened registrations for new students until November 26. Interested students must visit the center, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the following documents: Photo ID(RG), taxpayer ID card (CPF), academic records and a statement for 9th grade or senior year students signed by the Institution where they are enrolled.

 Courses offered are:

- Forestry Operations Technician (continuous learning), for students who finish high school in 2021 or have finished in previous years;

- Agribusiness Technician (full-time), for students who finish elementary school in 2021;

- Heavy Machinery Maintenance Technician (continuous learning), for students who finish high school in 2021 or have finished in previous years; and

- Heavy Machinery Maintenance Technician (full-time), for students who finish elementary school in 2021.

No tests will be applied this year and students will be evaluated based on their academic performance, which is why bringing these records is important.

“In 2021, the School will have its first graduates. In all, 36 students will be selected for Klabin’s Internship Program, an opportunity that reinforces employability in the field and shows the importance of combining technical know-how with professional practice. In addition, the opportunity can go beyond regional boundaries, since the professionals will be qualified to join diverse companies in the forestry sector,” says Luciana Nadai, People & Management manager at Klabin.

In order to better serve the students, the Forestry and Agriculture Technical School of Ortigueira offers a comprehensive infrastructure of laboratories, sports court, cafeteria and workshops, as well as an exclusive boarding school for students of integrated full-time programs, aged 16 years or below and who live far from the institution that hampers daily commute. “These conditions broaden the scope and enable us to reach all students in the region who are interested in joining the forestry sector,” added Sueli Martins, head of the Ortigueira Education Center.

About the State Forestry and Agriculture Vocational Training Center of Ortigueira

Inaugurated in 2020, the State Forestry and Agriculture Vocational Training Center of Ortigueira is the result of a partnership between Klabin, the Municipal Government of Ortigueira and the State Government of Paraná. Klabin invested over R$30 million in the school to provide it with a complete infrastructure consisting of classrooms, fully equipped labs, bathrooms, industrial kitchen, cafeteria, multi-sports court and a leisure area with capacity for 800 students. The school also has an exclusive boarding school for students enrolled in full-time programs. When developing the project, Klabin and representatives from the Paraná State Education Department, the Telêmaco Borba Regional Education Center and the Municipal Government of Ortigueira visited similar schools in Finland and Sweden, located in the Scandinavian region, which is a global benchmark in the pulp and paper industry.
