During environment month, Caiubi Program promotes talks on environmental education for the regions Klabin operates in Santa Catarina

Santa Catarina, June 10, 2019 – During celebrations of the environment month, Klabin’s unit in Correia Pinto hosted the 31st edition of the Caiubi Program, which had as central theme the conservation of the soil, water resources and biodiversity.

The Program developed by Klabin aims at training elementary and high school teachers and raise awareness of matters related to sustainability and the environment, so that teachers become multipliers of the theme for students and the communities where they operate.

The event was split into two days, with talks on Klabin’s social and environmental programs, the importance of biodiversity and water resources conservation and soil sustainability, in addition to workshops, role-playing activities and field trips to stress the topics addressed. Overall, more than 55 teachers of the municipalities where Klabin operates in the state took part in the activities.

Caiubi Program is held in Santa Catarina since 2007 and has brought Klabin closer to the communities in the 40 cities across the state where it has forestry and industrial operations, disseminating to the population the actions carried out by the company favoring sustainable development.

Caiubi Program

To spread concepts of ecological awareness among teachers in the communities where it operates, Klabin began the Caiubi Program in Paraná in 2001. The project has been run in Santa Catarina since 2007 through a partnership with Departments of Education. Since its creation, 31 editions have taken place, benefitting over 550 teachers of 1,350 schools and 178 thousand students.
