Klabin concludes Sowing Education training programs in SC

Conducted in partnership with municipal governments, the initiative supports the ongoing training of public-school teachers to foster social development in communities

Santa Catarina, 14 de june de 2023 - With actions in the state of Santa Catarina for more than 50 years, Klabin continues advancing in its commitment to support the development of its local communities. The Sowing Education Program, carried out in the cities of Otacílio Costa, Lages, Correia Pinto, Palmeira and Ponte Alta, concluded its first round of training programs for school administrators and teachers in 2023, in addition to conducting visits to public school units.

In all, the first round of the program benefited 93 teachers in the cities of Correia Pinto and Otacílio Costa; 195 administrators and teachers in Lages; and 43 teachers and administrators of schools located in Palmeira and Ponte Alta. In addition to training programs, the teachers of Klabin Sowing Education visited schools in Correia Pinto and Otacílio Costa to better guide orientations and to validate the action plans formulated by the administrative team of school units.

“The program expert who guided us was extremely dynamic and she had vast knowledge of the content and technologies, which helped to ensure a great experience,” said Carla Coelho Costa, a first-grade teacher at Antônio Pires Burg and Núcleo Municipal Professora Adilha Matias Faria schools, who has participated in the training programs in Otacílio Costa since its first edition. She believes that the program truly supports the development of teachers in all their career levels, since it covers topics from understanding and learning each content to be taught in the classroom to the sharing of experiences and reflections for those who already have greater knowledge and more experience in the profession.

Carried out since 2021 in Santa Catarina, in partnership with the Municipal Education Departments of each municipality involved in the project, Klabin Sowing Education works to help improve school administration and the continued professional development of public school teachers, causing a decisive impact on the good performance in the Basic Education Development Index (IDEB). One of the program’s goals is to encourage schools to find structural solutions for the challenges of the learning journey.

Uilson Paiva, Social Responsibility and Community Relations manager at Klabin, said that encouraging education is one of the most effective paths for the development of the company’s local communities. “Quality public education is the most effective way to build a more sustainable society with citizens ready to face the challenges of the globalized world. The Klabin Sowing Education Program helps to expand the competencies of educational and school administrators to consequently improve the student learning process,” he said.

Since its start, the Klabin Sowing Education Program has already benefited over 146 schools, approximately 1,218 education professionals (327 administrators and 891 teachers) and 22,000 students in the municipalities of Paraná, Santa Catarina, São Paulo and Pernambuco. Note that, through the program, Klabin supports the SDG 4 - Quality education in lifetime for all – supporting advances in the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations (UN) in 2015.
