Klabin produces corrugated pallets for internal use

São Paulo, July 3, 2020 – In line with its Sustainability Policy and its commitment to the environment, Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, constantly seeks solutions to reduce waste at its industrial units. One of these resources is the considerable reduction of waste from wooden pallets, which are frequently damaged due to the handling by forklifts, replaced by pallets produced from corrugated cardboard pieces, an alternative fully incorporated into the company’s production process. The measure has been adopted at the Jundiaí, Feira de Santana, Itajaí and Manaus units, which replaced a part of the traditional pallets.

Corrugated pallets are produced from Klabin paper, that is, from renewable raw material obtained from planted and certified forests, and are 100% recyclable. These pallets have attributes similar to wooden pallets: they can carry the same weight as traditional pallets and be used by forklifts but with less damage. If handled with due care, corrugated pallets have high durability.

“We have a team focused on developing solutions that enable us to expand the use of paper, thus contributing to building a sustainable future. The pallets are being produced by the company and fully recycled after use within an internal use chain, without generating waste,” says Douglas Dalmasi, Packaging Director at Klabin.
