Klabin rolls out initiatives in São Leopoldo to help combat COVID-19

São Leopoldo, June 1, 2020 — To support civil society in combating the spread of the new coronavirus, Klabin has rolled out several initiatives and allocated resources to the areas of health and welfare, especially in the cities where it operates.

Last week, the company donated 60,000 hospital items to the Municipal Government of São Leopoldo, a city located in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre where Klabin has a corrugated board packaging plant. The materials donated include PPE items for health professionals, such as disposable surgical masks, gloves, aprons, disposable caps and safety glasses, as well as four hundred 500ml bottles of hand sanitizer.

During this period, Klabin’s São Leopoldo Unit produced 15,000 corrugated board boxes, which were donated to Renner Institute and to a company called Jimo, to pack and help transport hygiene and cleaning products, as well as spray alcohol, which was donated as well.

The company has so far allocated R$10 million to initiatives aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 across the country. Besides donating hygiene, health and PPE kits, the company donated corrugated board packaging, paper bags and basic food baskets, and funded the acquisition of hospital equipment.
