The packaging, which can be integrated into the process while preparing concrete, won the award in the sustainability category
 
São Paulo, January 3, 2022 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging and paper packaging, won the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards in the Sustainability category for its water-dispersible bag. The packaging, designed by Klabin’s Technology Center and Packaging department, was recognized for its quality, functionality, sales appeal and sustainability aspects.
 
Crafted using dispersible paper, the packaging may be integrated into the mixing process while preparing concrete. Dispersible bags offer diverse benefits, including the reduction of waste disposed of at construction sites, which enables the correct disposal of such waste, while retaining strength, bagging performance and excellent palletization, which are common to other bags produced by the company. Just like other Klabin products, the packaging is biodegradable and produced from renewable sources.

Considered one of the preeminent global packaging awards, the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards have been held since 1970 by the World Packaging Organisation, to disseminate the continuous advances made in packaging technology around the world and raise awareness about the importance of packaging to improve life in society by recognizing innovation and efforts made by companies, designers, students and brand agencies for creating the packaging solutions of the future and responding to evolving challenges and global trends such as sustainability and hygiene, among others.
 
ABRE Awards
In September last year, the dispersible bags won another important award. The packaging won the gold medal at the 21st Brazilian Packaging ABRE Awards in the Market – Functionality category, followed by packaging for pet food maker Tibii, also developed by Klabin, which won bronze in the same category.
