Klabin’s donations in Rio Negro and Mafra support the fight against COVID-19
Rio Negro, May 29, 2020 — To help contain the spread of the coronavirus, Klabin has expanded its commitment to social responsibility and caring for people, especially in the regions surrounding its operations. The company donated PPE items for hospital kits and hand sanitizer to the cities of Rio Negro (Paraná), where it has a corrugated board packaging production unit, and Mafra (Santa Cataraina), where approximately 50% of employees of its Rio Negro Unit live.
A total of 60,000 items for hospital kits were donated, of which 30,000 went to Bom Jesus Hospital in Rio Negro and the other 30,000 to the São Vicente de Paula Charity Association in Mafra. The kits include PPE items, as well as disposable surgical masks, gloves, aprons, surgical caps and safety glasses. In April, the company also donated 50 liters of hand sanitizer to both entities.
Klabin is also supporting actions conducted by the Rotary Club in Rio Negro: this week, the company donated 51 basic food baskets and 350 pieces of corrugated board packaging for other basic food baskets to be donated by the entity.
Since the onset of the global health crisis, Klabin is increasingly engaged in the fight to combat the spread of COVID-19 and has so far allocated R$2 million to initiatives across the state of Paraná.
