Klabin is listed for the second year running on the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of the BM&FBovespa

São Paulo, 26th of November 2014 – For the second year running, Klabin, Brazil’s biggest paper manufacturer and exporter, is a member of the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of the BM&FBovespa. The purpose of the ISE is to create an investment climate compatible with the demands of sustainable development, as well as to encourage ethical responsibility through good corporate practices. “The fact that Klabin continues to be on the ISE listing is confirmation of our historical commitment to sustainable development. For the company, sustainability is found throughout our value chain, starting with our forest base and all the way to our relationships with our partners and the market”, points out Fabio Schvartsman, CEO of the company.

 

The new listing will be valid between January 5th 2015 and January 2nd 2016. The member companies are selected on the basis of criteria established by the EAESP-FGV (Business Administration School of São Paulo, of the Getulio Vargas Foundation). In order to be listed on the Index, companies must excel in good practices of sustainability, spread over seven areas: General, Environmental, Climate Change, Social, Governance, Economic-Financial and Nature of the Product. Besides the answers to questionnaires in each area, companies are submitted to an assessment of documentary evidence, which should prove the quality of management and control of the issues involved.
