Klabin will value local workforce for Puma Project II works

Paraná, June 4, 2019 – For the expansion works of the Klabin’s Puma unit, in Ortigueira – Puma II Project – the company will maintain its initiative of hiring local labor. Besides stimulating hirings through employment agencies, several training and qualification courses will be offered, so that professionals of the region’s municipalities have access to jobs – both in the phase of implementation of the new integrated paper and pulp industrial plant, as later in the operation of the forestry and manufacturing areas.

 

The company’s goal is to reach and even increase the use of the local workforce, as it happened during the construction of the pulp plant (Puma I Project) inaugurated in 2016. Back then, during the construction works, the company recorded, in average, an index of 85% of workers from Paraná, 68% of which were from Ortigueira, Telêmaco Borba and Imbaú. Even during the electrical and mechanical assembly phase, when a very specialized workforce is needed, the region’s workers index reached 50%.

 

 “Hiring professionals from the municipalities of Campos Gerais and the State of Paraná has many advantages to the companies and workers, such as their easy adaptation and the strengthening of the region’s economy, in addition to the pride in helping to implement a project of such magnitude”, says Sales  Bueno, manager of People and Management of the Puma II Project.

 

Initially, the jobs available in the project will concentrate in support areas, such as cleaning, cafeteria worker and general service workers. With progress of the works, there will be more specialized job opportunities, from administrative assistants to drivers, electricians, bricklayers, painters, mechanics, welders, watchmen, machine operators, among others.

 

To work in the Puma II Project, interested parties must go to their municipality employment agency to check the vacancies open by the contractors and subcontractors. Make sure to take personal documents like Work papers, Identity Document (RG) and Individual Taxpayer ID (CPF).

 

Jointly with SENAI (National Industrial Training Service), Klabin will offer training and qualification courses for the construction and industrial assembly areas. “These will be short courses to prepare interested parties for basic jobs and those seeking their first job”, informs Bueno. Courses are being organized and will be advertised shortly.

 

Klabin, in partnership with several institutions, continuously sets up initiatives for training local workers. A recently announced initiative is the Professional Forest and Agricultural Education State School, which with the state government support will offer 300 vacancies for technical courses in Forestry Operations, Heavy Machinery Maintenance and Agribusiness. The school is expected to start its activities in the first quarter of 2020.
