São Paulo, March 31, 2026 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, a leader in corrugated board packaging and a benchmark in short-fiber, long-fiber, and fluff market pulp, has been expanding its presence in the market for higher value-added papers. A key innovation in this expansion is the Advance® line, a family of white paperboard specifically developed for applications demanding superior structural strength and exceptional print quality, such as packaging for the cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food, and food service sectors.
The line was designed to meet markets that demand a high visual standard and technical performance of packaging, bringing together solutions capable of combining excellent graphic results, structure, and efficiency in the industrial processes of conversion and filling. As a result, the Company enhances its role in high-value-added sectors and advances its strategy to deliver an ever-expanding selection of packaging papers.
The entry into this segment follows the evolution of demand in the global paperboard market, currently estimated at 50 million metric tons per year. Approximately 80% of the global volume of virgin paperboard consists of white paperboard. In Brazil, apparent consumption is around 800,000 metric tons, with estimates indicating that over 50% of this volume is made up of light- or white-backed boards. In this context, Klabin has expanded its portfolio to include whiteboard production, reinforcing its position as the Brazil’s leading paperboard producer and strengthening its presence in one of the industry’s most significant segments.
One of the main differentiators of the Advance® line is the fiber blend used in its structure, which combines long fibers of pine with short fibers of eucalyptus. This composition provides greater stiffness and strength to the material, as well as excellent graphic performance. As a result, paperboard offers high performance in filling and conversion lines, while also allowing for sophisticated finishes and high-definition printing—features that help elevate the visual standard of packaging.
“Advance® is a key part of Klabin’s strategy to expand its packaging solutions portfolio and meet the needs of sectors seeking greater value-added products. With its blend of structural integrity, premium print quality, outstanding performance on filling lines, and sustainable fiber sourcing, this product opens up new opportunities for paperboard use in multiple industries,” stated José Soares, Klabin’s Commercial Director for Papers.
Produced from bleached fibers, Advance® paperboard is made 100% from Klabin's own pulp, ensuring color, strength, and technical properties suitable for more demanding applications. All products of the Company come from planted forests certified by international bodies.
The Advance® family brings together solutions aimed at different industry segments:
- Advance® Print: recommended for applications that require high graphic quality, such as packaging for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chocolates, and bonbons.
- Advance® Cup: serves the food service segment, being used in the production of cups, pots, and other packaging for food and beverages.
- Advance® Tray: ideal for food trays that demand high strength during thermoforming and are suitable for use from freezer to oven.
- Advance® Pak: developed for food and beverage packaging that use aseptic filling processes.
Production with Cutting-Edge Technology
Klabin's white paperboard is produced on Paper Machine 28 (MP28), installed at the Ortigueira Unit, in Paraná. Engineered with advanced technology and a high level of automation, this state-of-the-art operation ranks among the world’s most modern for paperboard production, with an annual capacity of up to 460,000 metric tons.
The MP28 is a hybrid machine, with the flexibility to produce both white paperboard in different density levels and Eukaliner®, the world's first Kraftliner made 100% from eucalyptus fibers, as well as the Eukaliner® 8K version, a coated white Kraftliner used in premium corrugated board packaging by global clients. This versatility reinforces Klabin's integrated, diversified, and flexible business model, allowing it to serve different segments of the packaging market with productive efficiency and a high standard of quality.
