Klabin presents the plan for the Klabin Transforms by Sowing Education program to participating municipalities in Paraná

This initial phase aims to assess the state of basic education in each municipality, establishing clear goals and priorities

Meetings were held with the city governments of the cities participating in the program.

Santa Catarina, March 12, 2026 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, a leader in corrugated board packaging and a reference in short, long, and fluff market pulp, held meetings with the city governments of the municipalities participating in the Klabin Transforms by Sowing Education program in Paraná, to present this year’s work plan. The activities will be carried out in the municipalities of Telêmaco Borba, Imbaú, Ortigueira, Tibagi, Reserva, Curiúva, Sapopema, and Ventania.

According to Maria Harumi Yoshioka, Manager of Social Responsibility and Community Relations at Klabin, the program is primarily focused on supporting municipal education networks in the creation and implementation of a strategic action plan. The goal is to foster evidence-based management in order to broaden access, strengthen students' educational pathways, and improve learning outcomes.

This initial alignment is crucial for achieving long-term goals. “This moment, which we call awareness-raising, will help us plan activities collaboratively, integrate the teams, and listen to local needs,” she said.

According to her, the main actions of the program throughout the year include assessing the state of local education, supporting the planning of actions and goals, ongoing training for school administrators, monitoring performance indicators, and recognizing progress at the end of this cycle, which is expected for the end of 2026.

About the Klabin Transforms by Sowing Education program

The Klabin Transforms by Sowing Education program has been carried out since 2017 in municipalities in Paraná and, since 2021, in Santa Catarina. Its purpose is to strengthen public education in the areas where Klabin operates by providing technical support to the Departments of Education, promoting efficient, evidence-based management to broaden access, strengthen students' educational pathways, and improve learning outcomes.

Over the years, there has been an improvement in the quality of public education in the participating municipalities. One example is Ortigueira, located in the interior of Paraná: in 2025, it achieved a Basic Education Development Index (IDEB) of 6.1, surpassing the national average. In addition to Ortigueira, the municipalities of Imbaú and Telêmaco Borba, also in Paraná, recorded a 23% increase in the same index from 2018 to 2025.
